Brewery CIP Project
This customer came to us with a request for a clean-in-place (CIP) system for their new bottling line. The new line included a de-palletizer, labeler, bottle filler, packaging and palletizing equipment, and conveyors. The new CIP system would need to clean the heart of the new line and the filler, as well as the associated process piping from the fermentation room. The new bottling line was designed to bring a whole new level of automation to the brewery operation as the majority of their existing systems required manual interaction.
The bottle filler had very specific requirements that needed to be met to be properly cleaned, and communication to the CIP system was a must. The CIP system had to provide the cleaning solution at a specific pressure, flow rate, temperature, and chemical concentration. This cleaning solution then needed to be recirculated and held at these specific requirements for a specific amount of time through each flow path of the filler.
The control system automatically fills the tanks to the configured level and starts the wash, bringing the cleaning solution up to the configured temperature, flow, and chemical concentration.
Central States Industrial (CSI) deployed the use of their state-of-the-art CIP 2.0 control system to meet the rigorous needs of the brewing operation. The CIP system can automatically control the CIP cycle by simple user input on a 15” touchscreen display. The operator simply selects the desired wash type and hits start. The control system automatically fills the tanks to the configured level and starts the wash, bringing the cleaning solution up to the configured temperature, flow, and chemical concentration. This cleaning solution then passes through each fluid channel of the bottle filler until the filler communicates back to the CIP skid that it has been cleaned. The results of the wash are then summarized for the plant on a web page that can be viewed, saved as a PDF, or printed for the customer's records.
